Lunedì 07.01.2002 alle 23:00:00 Promossa a WQS 5 stelle, il "Rip Curl Newquay Boardmaster 2002" sarà la gara di surf del circuito ASP/WQS più importante del continente Europeo per il 2002. Prevista per Luglio/Agosto a Fistral beach, in Cornovaglia (UK), sarà accompagnata dal Vert Skate contest, Kite surfing event, beach Volley competition e altri eventi musicali come concerti e DJ competition.

An extra star has been added to The Rip Curl Newquay Boardmasters, the UK's largest lifestyle festival. The new 5 Star status will mean an increased and higher level of surfers at the ASP World Qualifying Series Event. Rip Curl have increased their support to make the upgrade possible, making the Boardmasters the most exciting event to date in the UK. Held at Fistral Beach in Newquay, Cornwall next years event will run from 27th July - 4th August.
The upgrade from 4 to 5 Stars confirms the Rip Curl Newquay Boardmasters as the first major stop in the European leg of the World Tour. With increased WQS points and $80,000 prize money, the Boardmasters will ensure the return of some of best and most exciting surfers in the World.
Elsewhere at The Boardmasters will be the Right Guard Xtreme VERTSK8 Series and Extreme Zone. The VERTSK8 Series will again be parading Europes best vert skaters as well as riders from the US and Australia, while The Extreme Zone will bring back the simulated climbing wall, The Rock.
Outside of the surf and skate competitions the festival will include a number of high profile events including
BMX, Kite Surfing, beach volleyball, a DJ competition and various musical performances.
